Object Description

Rare ivory off white background on this wonderful all over leaf design antique Heriz carpet.  Woven around circa 1900-1910 the natural dyes are quite beautiful, with subtle pale blues, greens and gold tones.  The all over large leaf design is rare to find, we come across only a few of this design that are from best period of weaving between 1890-1910.

Object History

Heriz carpets have always been regarded as beautiful, tough objects of decoration, made in the north-west of Persia these handwoven works of art always have variations from one piece to another. Some draw influences from further north into the Caucasus and vivid colours like this particular carpet.  A decorative yet practical carpet which has been used for over 100 years and stood the test of time.

Object Condition

 In lovely original condition, with a good wool pile all over and no repairs or damage to speak of.
