Object Description
Antique Heriz Carpet, c. 1900s
3.12 x 2.27
Heriz carpets, made in Northwest Persia are in a class of their own. Prized for their geometric designs, fine durable construction, and creative palettes, they make ideal long-lasting rugs, incorporating the bold, graphic drawing of tribal and nomadic rugs, with the high-quality weaving of a Persian workshop piece.
This 1900s Heriz is a fine example of its type, employing an impressive range of fine, vegetable-dyed colours, spanning from ivory to denim blues, with golden and muted ochre accents in its open, wonderfully crisp overall design, overlaid over a soft terracotta ground.
This antique Heriz carpet is in very good to excellent condition, still retaining its original outer borders and fringes on both sides. These pieces are increasingly desireable, and it is becoming a challenge to find early Heriz carpets in such amazing condition on the market today.
A charming example with the versatility to blend in a contemporary or classic setting.
