A fine antique Heriz carpet woven with a hard to find all over repeating design. Most antique Heriz carpets have been woven with a central motif or medallion. The age of this piece is around 1900 – 1910, it is still in wonderful condition, as it is a finer weave these carpets were extremely durable. Lovely pale yellows and soft blues have been used to create an elegant rug ideal for a drawing room, dining room or entrance hall.
Heriz carpets have always been regarded as beautiful, tough objects of decoration, made in the north-west of Persia these handwoven works of art always have variations from one piece to another. Some draw influences from further north into the Caucasus and vivid colours like this particular carpet.
