A very sweet little antique Heriz rug made in north Persia with natural dyes that have mellowed well to make this a very attractive 120 year old rug. Woven around 1890-1900 the soft dyes are typical of this period of weaving. Along with the wonderful ‘Abrash’ which is the term for dye we can see in the blue particularly. Excellent pale greens too on an easy to place small oriental rug.
Heriz carpets have always been regarded as beautiful, tough objects of decoration, made in the north-west of Persia these handwoven works of art always have variations from one piece to another. Some draw influences from further north into the Caucasus.
We offer the service of viewing any of our carpets & rugs in-situ in London, Surrey, Hampshire & the UK by appointment. Please contact us or request a home visit to arrange a time to view this rug in-situ.
