Object Description

A high wool pile on this richly coloured antique Heriz rug from Northern Persia, dating from the early 20th century.  Woven with gorgeous blue dyes in amazing variety, soft green eight pointed star designs and an ivory latch-hook central motif.  Full of stylised flowers and tribal motifs, these antique rugs from this region have so much character and interest.  Lots of changes of dye and in wonderful original pile and condition.  Only minimal losses at one end.

Heriz carpets and rugs are famous for their durability and are one of the toughest antique rugs due to the good quality wool that was used. They are still extremely popular today, and can be used in an traditional home with exposed beams for example as well as a more modern home with contemporary furniture and paintings. Their warm colours and interesting designs make them an excellent compliment to many interiors.

We offer the service of viewing any of our carpets & rugs in-situ in London, Surrey, Hampshire & the UK by appointment. Please request a home visit, as you can choose a day and time for us to visit you with this rug and alternatives.
