Object Description
This beautiful figured walnut library table was made in the mid 19th century by the Dublin cabinet makers *W F Fry & Co.
A top quality antique writing table in the renaissance revival style with attractive, well chosen matched veneers. It is in beautiful antique condition and has benefited from professional traditional restoration including french polishing, cleaning and wax polished.
It has a new black hide writing surface with gilt tooling. This is surrounded by a band of walnut with a ‘thumb’ moulded border.
The frieze is fitted with three very deep drawers to one side and faux drawer fronts to the reverse. The drawers are cedar and mahogany lined with hand cut dovetail joints and original brass locks with key.
The drawer fronts are concave, the front edges are cock-beaded and fitted with the original segmented knobs. The central drawer is stamped W.F. Fry & Co. with the number 3462.
This stunning writing table stands on 4 crisply carved solid walnut supports with platform bases and hidden original brass castors.
A top quality, very rare table that would make a stunning focal point for an office or study or library.
