Object Description
An enormous antique Malayer corridor carpet otherwise known as a Kelleh carpet which means long format. Dating from the early 20th century the natural dyes are vibrant yet have faded due to their age. A rich red border of floral leaf designs. The large main field design is a symmetrical geometric pattern of flowers and connecting vines. Woven on a deep indigo background the variety of colours used for the pattern really lift the whole carpets palette. These large corridor carpets were more-often commissioned for the West during the mid 19th century to early 20th century for stately homes.
