1848 Map Sampler by Sarah Wilson. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass. Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing. The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in cross stitch throughout. Simple embroidered border. Colours brown, copper, black, pink and blue. Entitled ‘England’. Depicts a map of England with county names and some county towns. Continents in the four corners, ‘Europe’, ‘Asia’, ‘Africa’ and ‘Asia’. Signed and dated ‘Sarah Wilson Aged 9 1848’.
