Object Description
This is an antique Rembrandt school portrait oil on board painting of a child within an Italian Florentine pierced and carved gilded scrolling foliate frame, circa 1820 in date.
The oval painting depicts a portrait of a smiling child with a white headdress and a silk ruffle collar, housed in it’s original antique gilded Florentine frame, decorated with hand carved acanthus leaves, anthemion and beading with beautiful original gilding.
This lovely decorative painting will look amazing wherever it is placed.

Florentine frames made in Florence are a centuries-old tradition maintained by several artisan guilds. Florentine items produced in from the mid-19th century onward, typically reflect a contemporary interpretation of Renaissance art and furnishings. They have an ornate appearance, and are typically gold gilded, or have gold paint applied to resemble gilding.
