Antique oil painting of Torah Procession after Solomon Alexander Hart
English, 19th Century
Height 122cm, width 152.5cm, depth 2.5cm
This large and impressive oil on canvas painting depicts the Procession of the Torah, an event that occurs during the Jewish festival of Simchat Torah. The location is a synagogue in Livorno, Italy; the scene is dimly light, low light highlighting the many pious figures who occupy the interior of the synagogue. The work is after Solomon Alexander Hart’s original, ‘The Feast of the Rejoicing of the Law,’ from 1850. The present piece is an adept copy after the timeless original.
The painting is unframed, but can be framed according to your preference.
