Object Description

A delightful decorative antique Oushak carpet in a hard to find rare small size.  Condition is exemplary, with a wonderful soft wool pile and no damage to speak of.  Woven in the late 19th to early 20th century, these decorative pale carpets have grown increasingly desirable to furnish with, the muted green tones in the background work well with the brighter rust colours and ivory border.  A very attractive antique carpet, which can be viewed in our showroom or at home by appointment.

Ushak rugs and carpets were woven in the Anatolian highlands south of Istanbul where they used extremely soft wool and using the larger turkish knot made them weave more open designs than Persian carpets. They are increasingly desirable today due to their open designs and wonderful colours, thus making them easy to place in a drawing room or under a dining table.

Please request a home visit if you would like to view this antique Oushak carpet in your own home.  We love to travel and would be very happy to show you this carpet in situ and many more carpets to see which best suits your home.
