Object Description
This is a beautiful oil on canvas painting after Raphael, depicting the Madonna and Child in the original giltwood Florentine frame, Circa 1880 in date.
It bears a label to the reverse of stretcher, ‘Paoletti and Ferretti, Painters, Copies and Original Pictures, Via dei Fossi No 15’. Ferretti e Paoletti was a commercial art gallery recorded as being in operation at this address in 1880, see ‘Indicatore generale della città di Firenze amministrativo, commerciale, artistico, industriale e stradale’ (Tip. Galletti e Cocci, Florence, 1880 p.105. )
