Object Description

A superb pair of 19th Century carved mahogany leather upholstered armchairs.
Of excellent large proportions these unusual shaped armchairs date to the late 19th Century Victorian period circa 1880.

This pair of quality armchairs have been upholstered in a top grade hand dyed tan leather having shallow buttoned back and sides with scrolled arms and a feather cushioned seat to make an extremely comfortable chair.

The beautifully shaped framed being hand carved in solid mahogany with acanthus leaf decoration to the scrolling swept arms raised on a shaped and carved base supported by crisply carved ball and claw feet with acanthus leaf to the knee. These armchairs back legs are carved exactly the same as the fronts with the same apron showing a sign of quality and also allowing them to be truly free standing within the room.
A delightful pair of chairs in an excellent fully restored condition that are very comfortable indeed with a wonderful colour.

These antique leather chairs have been reupholstered using a traditional method which is then hand dyed and are sure to make a fine addition to any traditional or contemporary home.
