Object Description
This is a fantastic Antique pair of English Sheraton Revival painted satinwood armchairs, circa 1920 in date.
The chairs with an oval top rail above an open shaped latticework splat and they feature scroll arms extending to carved supports with caned seats. They are raised on ring turned tapering legs.
Legs, arms and top rails are hand painted with birds and foliate and floral decoration and the loose cushions are upholstered in a rich golden fabric.
There is no mistaking their beautiful and stylish design, which is certain to make them a treasured addition to one of the rooms in your home.

In excellent condition having been beautifully cleaned and waxed and the cushions reupholstered in our workshops, please see photos for confirmation.

Satinwood
is a hard and durable wood with a satinlike sheen, much used in cabinetmaking, especially in marquetry. It comes from two tropical trees of the family Rutaceae (rue family). East Indian or Ceylon satinwood is the yellowish or dark-brown heartwood of Chloroxylon swietenia.
The lustrous, fine-grained, usually figured wood is used for furniture, cabinetwork, veneers, and backs of brushes. West Indian satinwood, sometimes called yellow wood, is considered superior. It is the golden yellow, lustrous, even-grained wood found in the Florida Keys and the West Indies.
It has long been valued for furniture. It is also used for musical instruments, veneers, and other purposes. Satinwood is classified in the division Magnoliophyta, class Magnoliopsida, order Sapindales, family Rutaceae.
