Object Description
An important 18th century Portuguese golden topaz & diamond riviƩre fancy link necklace. The necklace is formed of a graduated series of oval diamond set cluster links, each mounted to the centre with a trilogy of graduated foil backed golden topaz gemstones, mounted within cut-down collet settings, within an openwork frame of rose cut diamonds. Each oval cluster link is separated by a beautiful diamond set bow motif and all these links are articulated throughout.
The necklace is completed with an imposing central cluster, mounted to the centre with an imposing oval cut golden topaz within a rose cut diamond set frame, suspending a stunning pear-shaped drop cluster. The foiled back topazes are all of a vivid golden yellow hue, with a wonderful vibrancy, and are all mounted within closed back settings. The necklace is hand crafted throughout in silver with high carat yellow gold, and is dating to circa 1780.
