Antique Sampler, 1810, by Elizabeth Sand

Object Description

1810 Sampler by Elizabeth Sand. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass. Mounted on acid free card with chipboard backing. The sampler is worked in silk on canvas ground, in cross stitch throughout. Meandering strawberry border. Colours green, cream, gold, brown and blue. . Signed and dated ‘Elizabeth Sand 1810’. A good set of motifs, including a house with a garden, birds, potted flowering plants, stags, fruit baskets, sheep, a lion and butterflies

Object Condition

Good. No holes. No stains other than uniform age darkening of the ground. Stitch losses to the border. Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined. No colour run. Neatly and evenly stretched.
