1843 Christ Church National School Sampler by Sarah Bryan. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass. Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with wood and brown paper backing. The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground. Meandering floral border. Colours brown, green, copper, gold, black and cream. Verse reads ‘Great God and will thou condescend> To be my Father and my friend> I a poor child and thou so high>The lord of earth and air and sky> Art though my Father the nati?st> When all my days on earth are past> Send down and take me to thy love> To be thy better child above’.
