Antique Sampler silkwork band sampler, circa 1740. The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches. Divider lines in various patterns. Colors greens, cream, yellow, blues and brown. Alphabets A-Z in upper case and numbers 1-15 Verses read, ‘This WORK In hAND MY FRIND MAY hA

Object Condition

Good. One small hole. Uniform age darkening of the ground. No stitch losses, just one loose thread to the ground. Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined. No colour run. Stretching is slightly uneven. Frame showing slight wear.
