An antique Shanks & Co. Art Nouveau porcelain sink on a pedestal. This late 19th century sink is in a sleek design of an impressive scale.
Pairing design with form, the pleasing oval basin, square splashback and curved pedestal with elegant moulds, make this unusual freestanding basin perfect for a main bathroom of an art nouveau style property.

Shanks & Co

Shanks & Co Ltd was founded by John Shanks in partnership with his brother Andrew in 1851 and quickly became an iconic British company. Based in Paisley, Scotland, together they went on to achieve worldwide success supplying and fitting sanitary ware, including on the Titanic and cruise ships Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth – making this original sink a quality find to become the focal point of any antique style bathroom.

Object Condition

Good structural condition. Basin has been resurfaced, but the pedestal has not. Supplied with modern taps in traditional style as pictured. Plug with finger ring which is not shown but is supplied.

FROM THE M50 / ROSS-ON-WYE

At the end of the M50, take the A40 towards Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth. Take the A49 Hereford Road (third roundabout after leaving the M50). Ignore the first two signposts for Wormelow, stay on the A49 for approximately nine miles and take the next left turn after passing the Pilgrim Hotel, signed A466 Wormelow. Follow the road for approximately 400 meters. We are located halfway down the hill on the right-hand side. The site is called: Grove Farm / The Grove.

FROM A49 HEREFORD

Follow the A49 south from Hereford for approximately five miles. After the uphill section at the Callow, there is a layby on your right followed by one on your left. Take the next right turn onto the A466 signed Wormelow / Monmouth. Follow the road for approximately 400 meters. We are located halfway down the hill on the right-hand side. The site is called: Grove Farm / The Grove.
