A fine quality antique French kingwood shaped bureau plat / desk with well cast brass mounts circa 1920.
The shaped top with a newly inset gilt tooled leather enclosed by a kingwood crossband and brass banding sits over a serpentine shaped freeze kingwood drawer with hand cut dovetails brass banding and ornate central escutcheon.
With shaped and banded ends having central brass face motif this fine quality French bureau plat desk / centre table stands on shaped cabriole legs with caryatid mounts to the knee terminating on paw feet / sabots.
This bureau plat is also finished to all sides enabling it to stand freely within the room.
In excellent condition having been fully restored using traditional methods this shaped bureau plat can be used as both a centre table and a desk.
With good colour and quality castings this very attractive desk will work in most settings.
