Object Description

A very fine quality antique silver George I “dome” top coffee pot which is of plain tapering cylindrical form and stands on a circular collet foot.
The surface of this impressive coffee pot is plain and unembellished.
It is very clearly hallmarked to the underside and is correctly part marked with the standard mark and makers mark to the lid.
It still retains its original fruitwood handle and the original scratchweight is engraved to the underneath by the hallmarks.
This is a lovely early piece of silver and this style of coffee pot is reasonably unusual and only really seen in the 1715 – 1730 period.
These very early Georgian period pots were often used for chocolate as well as coffee.
The coffee pot is in superb condition and has a lovely feel and balance to it (apologies for the glare, plain surfaces are difficult to photograph).
Dimensions: height 25.5 cm; weight 26.75 troy oz.
