Object Description
A striking George II antique silver, early rococo cake basket with a swing handle of oval form. It stands on scroll and leaf feet and the openwork rim is cast with fruiting vines and bacchanalian masks.
The sides are pierced with scrolls and strap work; chased with a band of flowers, scrolls and shells around an applied boss engraved with a coat of arms.
The conforming handle has putto terminals and is engraved with the armorial of the Capron family.
