Object Description
An extremely fine and rare George II Limerick silver pap boat of unusually good gauge, fine quality and with a superb patina.
This is only the second Limerick pap boat that we are aware of. There is another one by Joseph Johns in the Hunt Museum in Limerick made in c. 1760 but of inferior quality.
The makers mark of Jonathan Buck is struck twice in a rectangular punch. This mark is represented by three or four objects in the Limerick Museum, most notably by a brandy pan, a sugar bowl and a saffron teapot (please see the attached pictures).
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a top class piece of early Limerick silver.
Dimensions: length 14 cm, width (at widest) 8.15 cm; weight 3.5 troy oz.
