Object Description

A rare George III silver Coburg pattern flatware service for 24 place settings. The majority was made in London in 1813 by the Royal goldsmith, Paul Storr.
The condition of the service is quite superb. It looks almost unused with very sharp decoration and no wear to the tines of the forks and spoon bowls.
The service is comprised of:
24 table spoons
24 table forks
24 dessert spoons
24 dessert forks
4 basting spoons
2 soup ladles
The dates and makers of service are made up as follows: 24 table spoons (1813 Paul Storr), 24 table forks (1813 Paul Storr), 24 Dessert spoons (1813/14 Paul Storr), 24 dessert forks (12 in 1818 by Paul Storr and 12 in 1867 by Thomas Stone of Exeter), 4 basting spoons (1815 Paul Storr), 2 soup ladles (1824 William, Henry and Charles Eley).
The whole service bears the family crest of the Hussey family who were wealthy landowners in Devon and Somerset (the 12 Paul Storr dessert forks of 1818 bear a double betrothal crest for another family).
A superb double service which is extremely rare to be in such immaculate condition.
