Object Description
An antique silver George III salver of rectangular form, standing on four shaped moulded feet.
The salver is beautifully engraved with a border of leaves and grapes. The cartouches contain flowers.
The centre is engraved with the crest of Hobson – a griffin, segreant, in beak a key. It is entered in Fairbairn’s book of crests and shown on p. 167 no 13 and p. 19 no 12.
Above the crest the following dedication is engraved “J Prendergast to Mrs M Hobson 1794”
The salver is of a very unusual shape, and the condition and decoration are of the highest quality.
