Object Description
A fine pair of George III period late eighteenth century silver wine coasters, which are finely hand pierced and hand engraved with a vacant cartouche to the front.
The coasters have a delicate beaded rim and they still retain their original mahogany inserts.
They are made in London in 1787 by Hester Bateman.
The coasters are in excellent condition. Good Hester Bateman coasters such as this are becoming increasingly hard to find.
The date letter ‘m’ on these coasters pertains to the year 1787/8,the year the first colony was founded in Australia.
