Object Description
Antique simulated porphyry scagliola pedestal
Italian, Early 20th Century
Height 118cm, width 33cm, depth 33cm
This fine pedestal is made from simulated porphyry in maroon red. The pedestal is surmounted by a square plinth, which sits on the cylindrical column with twisted grooves. The column is set onto an octagonal base. Scagliola is a type of fine plaster often used to great effect to simulate marble and similar materials, as it does here to create a superb display piece, impressive in its own right, and used to exhibit the antique or show-piece of your choice.
