Beautiful rustic antique square Fereghan carpet, dating from the late 19th century.  Gorgeous yellow border with pale blues and a deep indigo blue main field with subtle reds and pale blues too.  Classical Herati design all over the main design, which are stylised leaves and flowers.  Amazing square size, Fereghan or Farahan as they are often known where one of few weaving areas that produced square sizes.  Excellent for an entrance hall, study, living room or anywhere in the home.  Supplied with sturdy underlay to keep the carpet secure on the floor.  We ship all over the UK and Worldwide, if you would like this carpet sent to your home or office it is very easy for us to do with our brilliant couriers.

Object Literature

Fereghan carpets are generally one of two types, the first being a full field decoration of floral motifs based on Persian designs, most commonly with the geometric ‘Herati’ design.  The second has a full medallion, usually with a contrasting colour, the edge of which is surrounded by a zig zag or jagged border. The dyes have mellowed beautifully due to the carpets age allowing it to be placed in a drawing room or dining room with ease.  They are often sought after by interior designers due to their rustic charm, with their warm tones and predominately all over designs, they suit country houses so well. 

Object Condition

In good condition, minimal low areas of wear, woven over 130 years ago so generally excellent for its age.
