Object Description

A rare ivory white main background on this amazing soft carpet.  With a gentle pink border, the faded green/gold detailing is wonderful and really elegant, we love the vine scrolls with small flowers creating an amazing large antique carpet.  An alluring, pale antique Sultanabad carpet woven over 140 years ago.

Sultanabad carpets are very important in the history of weaving as Sultanabad was formally known as Arak which was once the capital of Persia in the 1800’s.  Famous carpets such as Ziegler were woven in Sultanabad by the company Ziegler & Co which produced open large floral designs for western tastes and thrived in the late 19th century exporting these carpets to the US and Europe.

We love showing our carpets to customers and interior designers in situ, as it is vital to view carpets and rugs at home, so you can make the right choice, trying various options in a room. Our home visit service, is a professional, free service we have offered for over 30 years.

Or please book in a visit to our barn showroom, we have over 1000 antique and contemporary carpets, rugs and runners on offer.  We are located in the small picturesque village of Crondall in Surrey, around an hours drive from London.
