Object Description

An 18th century apple scoop or corer, having a ribbed turned handle that is interesting as it allows one to grip it tightly when coring or scooping an apple. According to Pinto, these were often used to enable a person who has lost their teeth to eat a raw apple. The longer ones were also used as an apple corer, as probably in this instance. The whole has an excellent colour and patination.
