Object Description
A fine mid 18th century four section lignum vitae double baluster travelling coffee grinder, in full working condition, having a folding handle, which fits in the bottom section for travelling when not in use. The top finial unscrews to release the circular platform underneath, to gain access to the interior for filling with coffee beans. The next section unscrews to reveal the metal grinder, and then to gain access to the ground coffee. It is turned predominantly from heart wood, with a small amount of sap wood on the base, which adds to the attraction overall. It has a lovely colour and excellent original patination.
