Object Description

A fine 18th century mahogany handled bird fork, having an end with five prongs, which is most unusual, and a tapered shaft, which is fitted to a well turned mahogany handle with a brass rimmed suspension hole to the end. Bird forks vary from toasting forks and flesh forks, which usually have only three and two prongs respectively. The whole is in excellent condition and has a fine colour and patination.

Object Literature

An identical one is illustrated on page 28 in the Spit and the Fire by Robert Deeley.
