Object Description
An fine 18th century sycamore apothecary’s pill silverer, having a fitted top, with a protruding rim, on a removable lid. The whole, raised on a concave stem with a stepped and vertical circular foot, has an excellent colour and patination.
These pill silverers were used by apothecaries, having made their pills, they would be moisturised with mucilage of acacia and then put in these containers with a silver leaf, gently rolling the pills within, which would coat them ready for storage in a bottle.
