Object Description

A boxwood plumber’s turnpin, which were used for opening the ends of lead pipes, therefore they were usually made from a hardwood, often lignum vitae or boxwood. This example is a little different, as normally they are just cone shaped, see S/2550. This one has an extended handle, which makes it considerably more interesting. The whole has an excellent colour, as often found with boxwood items, and retains a good patination.
