Object Description
A small lime wood pie peel, used for removing pies from brick ovens, which were often found at the side of large open hearths. They came in various sizes, the long handled ones of 4-6 feet were used by bakers using large ovens, 8-10 inches were used for loaves and 6-8 inches, as in this instance, were used for removing pies. They were always made in one piece with the handle having a suspension hole for hanging up on the wall. It has a pale honey colour and retains a patination.
