Object Description
A small 19th century Tunbridge Ware geometric inlaid rosewood go to bed, having an octagonal shaped base. The underside has the remains of the striking paper. The top, with a wood screw lid, has a small bone open finial to receive the match for lighting the way to bed, or used on a desk top for the melting of sealing wax for letters. The interior is used for the storage of spare matches and the whole has a good rich colour and patination.
