Object Description

A good example of an early 19th century coquilla nut nutmeg grater, made of three sections and having a carved basket weave top that unscrews to gain access to the metal grater, which has a bone collar and screw thread to gain access to the base for the grated nutmeg. The whole is intricately carved with lines, chip carving and basket weave decoration and has a rich honey colour and patination.
