Object Description

A fine quality late 17th or early 18th century ladle, the bowl made from a coquilla nut with a rounded base, very much in the manner of a dipper cup, used in conjunction with a wassail bowl. The top has a scolloped border with a silver shaft attached. The finely turned lignum vitae handle, in both heart and sap wood, ends in a double knop finial. The whole has a lovely colour and patination, and is a serious collector’s item.
