Object Description

A rare oak shelf or wall mounted lidded box for the storage of rush lights ready for use. The shaped backboard, with suspension holes, is above a slanting lid that originally had wire hinges, now replaced at a later date. The box, of nailed construction with close grained timber, has a pleasing colour and patination.
