Object Description

A hexagonal Victorian kaleidoscope within a figured walnut tapered case, which were invented in 1817 by a Scottish Physicist, Sir David Brewster. When viewed against the light they created beautiful and fascinating coloured patterns and were very popular in the Victorian Period. The whole has a dark colour and retains a patination.
