Object Description
A rare small scale Turkish carpet, a highly decorative late 19th century antique Ushak carpet to be precise, and with a rare off-white, grey toned background. The soft yellow border combined with gentle greens, pins, and soft reds is exquisite!
A very open delicate leaf and floral pattern all over, which is real delight. The wool pile is in general extremely good indeed, with a dense pile throughout the main areas, as close to perfect as can be. No losses to the ends or side/selvedges, as far as decorative antique carpets go this one would be very easy to live with and place in a drawing room, study or bedroom for example.
Ushak’s have become increasingly desirable in Europe and in the US in recent years, with their soft dyes, open pattern and muted appearance making them extremely popular with private individuals and interior designers. Their value has always been high, but they are increasing and going alongside the Ziegler carpets from the famed workshop of the same name.
