Object Description

Anatolian antique Ushak carpet woven around 1890-1900 with a beautiful all over design of large floral designs and vines.  Amazing cherry red/pink tones for the background, which have faded in areas due to the carpets age, making it full of character and interest.  Vivid green border is a rare dye, and a wonderful contrast to the cherry red dyes, bright gold tones, teal blues and aubergines complete the palette.

If you would like to request a home visit, we would love to help you, having visited customers in their own homes for over 30 years.   We feel it is vital to view a selection of carpets and rugs in situ, this helps you make the perfect choice, as you can try various options in a room.  Our home visit service is a free, professional service we have offered since 1990.

Please do view all the additional images, all taken in natural light with no editing. We take time to make sure all our images are as close to viewing the carpet with your own eyes.

Object Literature

Ushak’s were woven in Western Anatolia which was one of the largest rug production areas since the Ottoman Empire.  This Anatolian carpet has an almost contemporary feel to it and would work in a modern space as well as traditional.  We clean every carpet before offering it for sale and make sure the ends and fringes are secured.

Object Condition

Due to the age of this carpet some old areas of restoration are apparent, with some old reweaves at the ends/fringe area.  There are some areas of lower pile in the main field, but no thread bare areas or holes to speak of.  The general pile is very good, with a medium wool pile height on this 130 year old carpet from Ushak in Turkey.
