A superb quality library writing / stretcher table in ebony and amboyna.
This lovely quality table has been constructed in the manner of Gillows of Lancaster being one of Englands best known furniture makers, often their goods were not stamped.
The quality of construction and the timber used as well as the design features all point towards Gillows as being the makers of this table.
The D shape ended top having a stunning amboyna veneered central panel with boxwood inlay and outer amboyna banding sits over a central drawer again having inlaid amboyna panels with bone inlaid banding and motifs.
This antique table has a central lockable drawer with working key and is finished to all 4 sides making it able to stand freely within the center of a room.
The top being raised on fluted gilt turnings with central turned stretcher supported by a splayed base being highly decorated with amboyna and bone strung panels.
An extremely fine table in excellent condition having been fully restored using traditional methods retaining a beautiful colour and comes with a working key.
A table of this quality could grace any home.
