Object Description
This is a charming English, Victorian, burr walnut loo table, attributed to Holland & Sons, circa 1835 in date.
There is no mistaking this is the work of a master craftsman, which is certain to become a treasured addition to your antique furniture collection, not to mention the proud centrepiece in your reception room.
The table top is circular in shape and of striking burr walnut, which has been line inlaid with satinwood crossbanding and marquetry decoration, and raised on an ormolu mounted walnut three legged base fitted with recessed castors, typical of the work of Holland & Sons.
The table is secured to the base with a brass catch, which can be released so that the top can be stood on end. This can be useful if you need the space for a party.
A Loo table was used for playing the popular Victorian card game Loo. However, it is extremely versatile and can be placed in your bedroom, living room, dining room, office or reception.
