Object Description
A wonderful antique Victorian sterling silver cutlery set which has been made in the fiddle pattern style by George Adams for 12 persons and consists of:
12 x table forks: 20.6 cms (8.1″) in length
12 x dessert forks: 17.7 cms (7″) in length
12 x table/soup spoons: 22.6 cms (8.9″) in length
12 x dessert spoons: 18 cms (7.1″) in length
12 x teaspoons: 14.5 cms (5.7″) in length
1 x soup ladle: 33.2 cms (13.1″) in length
1 x basting/serving spoon: 30.7 cms (12.1″) in length
2 x sauce ladles: 18 cms (7.1″) in length
1 x asparagus/serving tongs: 25.2 cms (9.9″) in length
12 x table knives: 24.3 cms (9.6″) in length
12 x dessert knives: 21.4 cms (8.4″) in length
This lovely set would grace any dining table and would be a pleasure to use. It remains in excellent condition and has been cared for over the years. There are 89 pieces in total and the set weighs 130 troy ounces (4,048 grams) without the knives and canteen box. The sterling silver handled knives with stainless steel blades were added in 1986 and were hallmarked in Sheffield and made by William Yates. They compliment the fiddle pattern set perfectly. This set fits neatly in a mahogany canteen box which has been re-lined to make it look more presentable.
