W. B. Simpson & Sons

William Butler Simpson established his ceramics company in W. B. Simpson & Sons in 1833, after he inherited his talent as an artist from his father.

In 1849, Simpson was presented a gold medal by the Society of Arts in recognition of his efforts to promote the improvement of design.

Just a couple of years later, he received a bronze medal from the International Exhibition of Decorators, before being made a Freeman of The City of London.

In 1852, his two son, Willian Federik and Edward Henry were made partners.
