Object Description

A strikingly elegant and unusual Art Deco period Mahogany Egyptian revival glazed display cabinet. Of tapering form, having classical gilded ormolu motif decoration to the mouldings. two glazed doors above flamed Mahogany panelled doors beneath. Two carved wood and ebonized figures of Sekhmet either side. A writing slide at waist height and gilded ormolu Leopard head handles.

Sekhmet represents an ancient Egyptian goddess often depicted as a lioness or a woman with a lioness head. She was associated with war, healing, and protection. The specific design elements, like the lioness head and the headdress, are characteristic of Sekhmet in Egyptian art.
