Panels of light turquoise blue Galalith mounted in gilt metal.
Made by FABON.PARIS.
Numbered 7520 & marked with the French design registration mark DESPOSE.

Object History

The jewels produced by FABON & other contemporary French & German companies display a strong modernist style influenced by the growing ‘Machine Age’ aesthetic of the 1930s.
Galalith,a mixture of Casein (A protein found in Milk) & formaldehyde is one of the early partially organic based man made materials used in the decorative arts & industry durring this period which provides another illustration of the growing connection between these two worlds of design.
