Object Description

Art Nouveau diamond ring. Set with thirty two round old cut diamonds in open back grain and rubover settings with an approximate combined weight of 3.00 carats, to an impressive graduated sprayed cross over form, featuring millegrain edging, a polished gallery and open backholing, leading to smooth shoulders and flowing through to a solid tapering D-shape shank. Tested yellow gold with silver settings, numbered ‘2533’ circa 1900.

This ring bears a close resemblance to one made by Georges Le Turcq pictured in Henri Vever’s seminal publication on French jewellery, ‘French Jewellery of the Nineteenth Century’ (ed. Katherine Purcell), page 1146. This ring is also referenced in ‘Georges Le Turcq: Un grand Joaillier Art nouveau Francais’ by Jean Jacques Richard, 2015, page 22.
