Object Description
This is a rare standing mazer in the Tudor manner made by foremost Arts and Crafts silversmith A E Jones and hallmarked in Birmingham in 1921.
The upper part comprises a silver bowl decorated with reeded and tongue and leaf patterns mounted within a fruitwood bowl. This is fixed to a thick decorated column onto a circular foot. The area just above the foot has pierced decoration of masks, leaves and flowers. The base is hallmarked with the full set of hallmarks and the bowl is hallmarked with the sterling and date letter.
